  • The CEIV Lithium certification is granted to operators who meet the safety standards and obligations for transporting lithium batteries throughout the entire supply chain.
  • The Smart Facility certification recognizes compliance with the infrastructure conditions, equipment and loading procedures contained in IATA standards.

Lima, October 2 2023. Talma, a leading airport services company belonging to the Sandoval Group, has been granted CEIV Lithium and Smart Facility certifications, both issued by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) in recognition of the company's operating excellence.

The first certificate is a response to concerns arising in recent years within the aviation industry, about lack of awareness and an increasing number of incidents involving lithium batteries that have not been properly declared and therefore fail to meet cargo shipment requirements. It is also deemed necessary to address safety risks to ensure that the supply chain is not compromised.

“For that reason we are committed to good practices in the handling of lithium batteries and have obtained the CEIV Lithium certification, which is awarded to operators who comply with the rigorous safety standards and obligations applying to the transport of these products throughout the entire supply chain,” says Arturo Cassinelli, Corporate General Manager.

Furthermore, the Smart Facility certification recognizes compliance by our facilities with procedures for handling general cargo, dangerous goods, live animals, perishable cargo, pharmaceutical products and mail to current IATA standards and regulations, this reduces the scope and frequency of audits by airlines and thus improves the efficiency of our operations.

“We are extremely proud to receive these certifications, which confirm the quality and excellence of our airport services in Peru. These two bring our total of IATA certificates to eight, accrediting our position as leaders in the sector,” said Mr Cassinelli.

Last month Talma also received CBTA Corporate and Provider certifications, thus making Talma Training School (TTS), which is part of the organization, the only school in the country certified to train both its collaborators and other airport sector companies in the carriage of dangerous goods.

The company also holds CEIV Fresh certification, for air transport of perishable products; CEIV Pharma, for time-sensitive and temperature-controlled products (such as medicines or vaccines); and also ISAGO Corporate and Station, which promotes the standardization of operating and management procedures by ground handling service providers.
