TOKYO 2020 ORGANIZERS VISIT TALMA TO OBSERVE PANAMERICAN SPORTS RECEPTION

  • Two delegations will arrive to see the organization of Lima 2019 and the arrival of athletes, their luggage and implements at Jorge Chavez Airport
  • The first group will visit Peru for the 2019 Panamericans between July 22 and 25 and the second for Parapanamericans between August 11 and 17.

Lima, July 26, 2019.- Two delegations of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics Organizing Committee visited the facilities of Talma Airport Services to learn about the system for receiving and dispatching luggage and implements for athletes who will compete in the Pan American and Parapan American Games Lima 2019.

 

As part of its observation and information gathering on the way in which Peru organizes the Pan American and Parapan American Games, a part of the delegation will visit Jorge Chavez Airport to learn about the system of receiving athletes, their personal luggage and implements sports, some of great volume and weight. All these tasks are in charge of Talma Airport Services, which has implemented a sophisticated system to prioritize the reception and departure of athletes and all their materials that are entering the country.

 

The first Japanese delegation arrived in Peru between July 22 and 25 to observe the organization of the Lima 2020 Pan American Games, in which more than 6,600 athletes from 41 countries in the Americas will participate in 60 sports disciplines. Among the large-volume implements are surfboards, canoes, small sailboats, javelins, highly competitive athlete horses, among others, which in addition to being landed quickly must pass the respective customs procedures.

 

The second delegation of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Paralympics Organizing Committee will visit Peru between August 11 and 17 to observe the organization of the Parapan American Games, in which almost 1,900 athletes with disabilities or special abilities from 33 countries of America will participate in 17 sports. A part of this group will also visit Jorge Chavez International Airport to learn about the reception system for athletes, their sports equipment and the wheelchairs that many of them bring.

 

Qualifiers for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Lima 2019 Pan American Games are taking place from July 26 and will last until August 11 and the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games between August 23 and September 1.
